Guam is in danger of tipping over.

I thought this was an April Fools Day hoax. Unfortunately it’s true.

Representative Hank Johnson, Democrat from Georgia, expressed his concerns to Admiral Robert Willard, who commands the Navy’s Pacific Fleet.

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) is afraid that the U.S. Territory of Guam is going to “tip over and capsize” due to overpopulation.

Johnson expressed his worries during a House Armed Services Committee hearing on the defense budget Friday.

Addressing Adm. Robert Willard, who commands the Navy’s Pacific Fleet, Johnson made a tippy motion with his hands and said sternly, “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.”

Folks, this kind of ignorance belongs in juvy hall remedial class, not in the U.S. Government.

The comments on the story are pretty clever.

To this day, military historians are baffled as to why the Japanese didn’t just tip over all the islands they captured after they started losing territory after the Battle of Midway. I was giving this guy the benefit of the doubt. Before I watched, I thought he was probably speaking of some sort of environmental tipping point. Doesn’t he know that Guamese are real short and the military requires everyone to walk all hunched over to keep the center of gravity low? The real problem is that tiny and very, very tall Hong Kong. nursem– The spin now is that Hank Johnson was just trying to be funny. This is the same guy who cried “racism” after Rep. Joe Wilson called Obama a liar in September 2009. The guy is brilliant.

I went to Guam way back in 1979 on HMAS Torrens, a Destroyer Escort. Was a nice place from what I remember with my faded ageing memory
