Please don’t step the Moai. They don’t appreciate it, and it annoys them. When the Moai get stepped, a trunkful of unpredictable awful happens, and you’re not going to like it. It’s much worse than breaking a mirror.
Somebody didn’t read the sign.
If you step the Moai, your karma will be affected, and it will take years to regain your former status. Think of it as being downdinged for a decade, in real life, by everyone.

I’ve been to Easter Island! I will visit there again someday. It is one of the coolest places I’ve ever been to!
note: Easter Island has the longest runway in South America. (3800meters) Built by the U.S.A., in 1966, in the case that a spaceship/shuttle may have to land there.
double note: I think I’m accurate with these facts: it’s just what I think I remember from what the tour guide said … but I’m pretty sure.

Easter Island also has the longest “local call” system, to Santiago, Chile.
I studied the Moai in college. Rongo Rongo still keeps me up at night. What a mystery…

plane– I was surprised to learn that the Moai are not just non-talking heads – they have bodies.
LC Aggie– Say a-hey now, hey now, Rongorongo Moai. Cryptology is fascinating. I messed around with this one for a while one weekend.
