Saturday Matinee – Zappa, The Ink Spots, Iron Butterfly, Rare Earth & Satchmo

Earth Day has come and gone, and dang, I missed it. To make up for it, let’s run with the theme.

It would be different if I didn’t care, but I don’t want to set the world on fire.

Yep. In the Garden of Eden. On drugs.

That’s a rare Rare Earth vid. Now, to find one more video to round out the set… okay. I got it.

One of the prettiest songs ever written. Happy Easter and have a great weekend, folks. Be back here tomorrow for more fun.

    Am I bad that I liked Iron Butterfly’s In-A-Gaddada-Vida?

Of course it’s value increased exponentially with your degree of personal alteration.

Lemur– I liked IB, too. Classic doper rock.

Awesome compilation. I had that Ink Spots tune on a 78.
Iron Butterfly was the 2nd band I ever saw in concert–only because Canned Heat played first.

Soylent– You’re older than I thought. I have a collection of 78s that I pilfered from my gramma’s estate sale stacked up in an undisclosed basement. As for concerts, you’ve got me beat again. My first was seeing ShaNaNa when they were still dropping f-bombs in their act.
