Yeah, we had a heads-up a few weeks ago, and knew what was coming down. Here I thought I was ready for it.
I think Dad could see us, although his eyes weren’t tracking. He could barely speak, and his last words to me (as far as I could discern) were, “Take care of the rent.”
I told him that I’d be back to see him in the morning, and he raised his hand goodbye. He was gone a few hours later.
