Alfred Hitchcock’s Storyboards

Storyboards are planning tools, cartoon sketches that depict critical or pertinent scenes in animation, movies (and even amusement park rides). It’s an easy editing process for something that has yet to be filmed, but you already knew that, ya? Have you seen any? Check out these thumbnails.

Saturday Matinee – Russian Love Bugs, Romanian Finger Flute, Buddy Guy & Stevie Ray Vaughan

Well, duh. [via]

Buddy Guy from February 2015, pushing 80 years at the time of that interview. He always looked like he had fun playing, as he did in this 1989 vid with Stevie Ray Vaughan:

That wraps it up for this edition of the Saturday Matinee. Have a great weekend, and we’ll have more fun tomorrow.

In New South Wales, The Spiders Are Huge.

New South Wales Spider

A 1.5m long goanna gave a man a fright when it scaled the outside of his home. Eric Holland had been working in his shed in Thurgoona, New South Wales, when he saw the unexpected visitor darting across his property. Holland, who managed to snap a picture of the goanna, said: “I saw movement as I came out of the shed and I had a look and thought, bloody hell what is this thing? When I recovered from the shock I went inside and got a camera.” Goannas are often found in eastern Australia but generally live in the bush. They are typically wary of humans but are considered potentially dangerous on account of their bite. This one, thought to be a lace monitor goanna, hasn’t been spotted since it scampered away. A spokesman for the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage said the lace monitor could grow up to two metres in length and weigh up to 20kg.

Saturday Matinee – Glenn Frey & The Eagles, and Tom Waits

One of my favorite Eagles songs. I played that record so much you could see daylight through the grooves. R.I.P Glenn Frey.

The Eagles made me a bluegrass fan with “Midnight Flyer.”

Another favorite from that same album was “Ol’ 55.” It was years later that I found out it was written by Tom Waits.

Head down, chin up, and have a great weekend, folks.
