Brilliant.
Ralph Britten purchased a water tower from the nearby town of Lefors, Texas, transported it to Groom. The tower was intended to supply Britten’s remote truck stop /restaurant and tourist information center with water, but he found a cheaper supply and installed the empty tower as an advertisement on Route 66.
Britten’s business burned to the ground, but his water tower still stands.

That is an amazing story. Kind of like a story a few months ago where a church burned to the ground and a worker was show carrying out a fully intact, untouched by flame, large picture of our Living Christ.

dave d– Not sure what a leaning water tower has to do with a painting of Jesus, but the story is interesting:

@ Bunk- was only making the observation that the water tower, like the painting, survived while everything else around those two things were destroyed.

Dave D – Got it. Makes sense. I’m kinda slow sometimes.
