Gotta steal stuff from somewhere, you just happen to be on my list. 😀
I had a 45rpm of the Crewcuts’ Sh-Boom, when I was a tad. It was years before I heard the Chords’ original recording, and I liked it better. Allison Young’s version takes a little from both, brought back memories.

When I was a child, my best friend’s father used to play that song, though I confess I don’t know which version it was. We used to take turns dancing on his feet to it. Happy memories.

Listen to the Chords’ original and you’ll know (click the linky on the post). Both were released in 1954; the Crewcuts’ version was for the wypipo.

Stan Freberg did a parody version of the R&B original. He wasn’t nice.
