How ObamaCare Works

ObamaCare Illustration 110

The warm water is not for you. It’s only for members of Congress, their employees and Union Workers who’ve been exempted by fiat.

Obamacare is the most destructive economic policy I’ve seen implemented in my lifetime, and its reach goes far beyond healthcare.

If you haven’t been paying attention, ObamaCare forces employers to reduce their workforce by government fiat. It prevents employers from hiring full-time workers, and it cripples the insurance industry by mandating coverage without allowing it to compete nationwide in order to balance risks. That’s how the insurance industry works – spreading risk, spreading payments,  balancing it all and adjusting it all the time. It’s a game about odds.

Obamacare changes all of that. This should be a logic issue, not a political one.

However, once a federal program like ObamaCare competes with the private sector and has the power to arbitrarily dictate unreasonable rules, existing medical insurance companies are doomed, neighborhood medical facilities close and Hospitals go bankrupt. Hell, it’s already happening.

Tell me where such a system has ever succeeded. I’ll save you the trouble. It hasn’t succeeded anywhere in the history of the world, without killing off those who needed medical treatment the most – The Poor and The Elderly.

In the United States, The Elderly, the so-called “BabyBoomers.” are the largest population who understand the seductive evils of Socialism/Communism, which makes them a target. They are the same people that Socialists and Communists abhor, i.e.,  People Who Remember. For socialism to prevail, these ancients need to be squelched, and in that respect, ObamaCare is a very useful tool.

I’m not unconvinced that this is part of the intent. The signs are all there, and and it’s been done before.

THIS is the stuff of fascism. Mussolini rejected socialism, and was hanged by his own people for his alternative,

    Logic?? From the LEFT??

And pigs will try to seel me a bridge in Alaska.

  2. calo Says:

1/6th of the United States economy has been taken over by the Feds and we are all now serfs to their regulations and whims. What could possibly go wrong?

  3. Arnie Says:

Completely untrue! To try to brand President Obama as a facist is terribly unfair. Unless you forgot, the Affordable Health Care Act (better known as Obamacare) was an idea originally designed by the GOP and later implemented by Romney. In and event, how can a civilized (sic) country deny even the most basic health care to over 30 million citizens? Jesus Christ is ashamed of our track record. You should be too.

LC Aggie– The level of blatant propaganda coming from the BO Machine astounds me.

Calo– “Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good.” –Dr. Thomas Sowell

Allowing private business to exist while dictating what products/services they have to provide and what they may charge for them is the very definition of fascism, according to it’s founder.

There is nothing affordable about Obamacare, and it has nothing to do with reducing premiums. If Obama really wanted to lower premiums for medical insurance, he’d have eased the burdensome business limitations and restrictions on the insurance industry first, and see how that worked out. But he didn’t.

Either he’s incredibly ignorant of how the industry operates, or he’s destroying the world’s greatest healthcare system intentionally. Maybe both.

Romney’s Massachusetts healthcare was requested by his constituents, so he set up a system that was phased in over several years. On the other hand, 60% of the populace of this country don’t want Obamacare, yet it was forced down our throats with blatant lies and deception once the Supreme Court declared it Constitutional only as a tax.

Your premise that 30 million people are denied medical insurance in the US is pure propaganda promoted by the liberal media, because it’s simply not true.

Anyone can purchase it if they choose, and they can select their own policies. Others may see insurance premiums as an unnecessary expense and choose to pay out of pocket for doctors’ visits. Hell, I’m paying less than $1,000 per year direct to the doctors vs. $12,000 for a healthcare policy. It’s my personal choice, not Obama’s.

It should be common sense that when you lift governmental restrictions on an industry that the product/service gets more affordable, if only because you introduce marketplace competition, but ObamaCare does the exact opposite.

    Arnie, please read this:

    Here’s a clip:

“Municipal transit used to be privately owned and run, but politicians would not allow the fares to be raised to a level that would cover costs. The net result was that private companies were driven out of business and local governments took over, saddling the taxpayers with the costs that fares don’t cover.

That is what “single payer” means in any context — a government monopoly that virtually guarantees worse service. Why would anyone want that for something as crucial as medical care?”

Wish you well, and thanks for letting me vent.

  6. Brian Says:

Works juuuuust fine for us here in Canada.

  7. calo Says:

Arnie, I just want to kiss your face for bringing up Jesus Christ in your comments. And, thank you for reminding me of how I now pay my own health insurance as well as my neighbors subsidies while they got a bigger house plot than I do, 2014 is coming soon. Watch for the sleeping bear. We are gunning for you.

  8. Bunk Strutts Says:

Brian– If Canada’s system works for you, cool. Congrats. Doesn’t mean I or anyone should be forced into a nationalized healthcare system that has yet to be established.

  9. Bunk Strutts Says:

Calo– Jesus Christ & fish come to mind.

  10. Brian Says:

Your demise as a nation is a product of the way your particular brand of democracy has ultimately failed you.You feel entitled to “what’s mine is mine”, and why shouldn’t you? You’ve been given two hundred and fifty years of freedoms, liberties and opportunity to figure out the best way to run your country, and in that time it becomes engrained. It’s rather unfortunate that in all this time, you’ve barely progressed past 19th century attitudes towards individual rights, let alone figure out how to take care of running your country well.

Now that the ship is sinking and a life line is being offered to those in the water, your attitude is “screw it, let ’em drown”. Nice.

  11. Bunk Strutts Says:

I don’t know who taught you that, but you’ve been seriously misinformed about the indisputable history of the U.S.A. (1800s? Really?)

Please read the first paragraph of the Preamble to the US Constitution:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Note that it doesn’t say “provide”.
What causes you, as a Canadian, to hate this country so much?

And here’s ObamaCare in a simple self-explanatory graphic for you:

  12. Bunk Strutts Says:

Let me put it this way. I assume you live in an area where there are some people without a lot of money. Do you pay for their groceries? Why not?

  13. Brian Says:

Why must you and every right wing nut in the US feel like they need to quote the constitution defending your morally reprehensible view on providing healthcare? Maybe you’re one of these people that also believe that because the bible said man shall not lay with another man, that gay people are an abomination. Why wouldn’t you, it’s written down in a book that millions of people believe to be truth. Oh and don’t compare health care to groceries, you’re (hopefully) smarter than that.

For the record, I’m American, I just live here in Canada and it’s attitudes like yours that make me happy to be living where I am.

  14. Bunk Strutts Says:

Cool. You completely misunderstand ObamaCare, misinterpret my opinion and respond with insults and bigotry. So much for leftist logic and tolerance.

Believe it or not, Brian, ObamaCare has nothing to do with affordable medical insurance, and everything to do with destroying an industry in order to redistribute wealth and increase governmental control over an individual’s right to choose what’s best for one’s self and one’s family. It’s an obvious power grab, and many liberals are finally realizing the ugly truth.

I find it “morally reprehensible” to create a federal government program that deliberately harms business, wrecks the insurance industry, and financially penalizes low and middle-income wage earners, especially the young and the elderly. To sell it to the ignorants with intentional lies and false promises in order to get elected to high office is blatant fraud. The Emperor has no clothes.

Hell, even the insurance companies got chumped. They were silent when all this was going down, thinking “Yeah. Obama’s going to increase our premium revenues by forcing people to buy.” The truth hurts, and Obama kicked them right in the nuts by mandating new rules of coverage. Now hundreds of thousands of people find themselves dropped from coverage BECAUSE OF OBAMACARE.

  15. Bunk Strutts Says:

Yet you claim it’s not fascism. Pheeeew.

  16. Fritz Says:

the real question is will Obamacare pan out? I think it might sink itself due to its inherent failed design
    wait and see
I think it will fail and be removed

  17. Bunk Strutts Says:

Fritz– It’s already failing while causing economic damage, and I’m not talking about the website fiasco. That’s nothing compared to the program itself.

  18. Fritz Says:

This is true… I think it will be like prohibition … a failed experiment

  19. Bunk Strutts Says:

Fritz– It IS a failed experiment that should never have been implemented at all. The Affordable HealthCare Act is neither affordable nor is it a reasonable alternative to deregulating the insurance industry, and the only reason it passed into law is because the US Supreme Court declared it to be a tax… and that’s exactly what it is, and it’s a brutal tax on young people entering the workforce.
