Is this a Great Country or what? (Swans and ducks are geese, so don’t even go there.)

Big Little Green Army Men
Yeah, we had ’em.
We’d split them up, Germans vs. Allies, set them up in the dirt, then each of us would shoot rubber bands at the opponent’s “army.” If the rubber band knocked over a soldier, he was taken off of the battlefield as KIA.
If you shot a rubber band off your thumb, hit or miss, it became part of your opponent’s arsenal. If you were a good shot but too aggressive, you might run out of rubberband ammo and lose the battle. Strategy & Tactics for 8 year old boys.
Arrrgh.

How can you improve upon improvised pirate swords?
“Bobby! Let’s play pirates!”
“Great idea! I’ll go get the Plastic Guards! I’ll be back in an hour!”
Clever idea, but it won’t fly. Any kid who grew up near fallen branches could tell you that swords of the windfall variety don’t last long, and once your weapon has broken you need to find a replacement fast, otherwise you’re declared dead by default. Stopping to change your guard guarantees it.
Oh, well, it’s the thought that counts, and I wish I’d thought of it first.

Another Great Gift Idea: Yuk-Man
Toys that feel and act like snot are always welcome in Bunk’s House. Almost as much fun as the real thing, too.
