The Christmas that C.H. met A. & the C’s

From the Utoobage:
This collaboration by Los Angeles Blues-Rock band Canned Heat and Chipmunks creator Ross Bagdasarian Sr. was released in November 1968 as the A-side of Liberty 56079 in time for the holiday shopping season. Though some pressings credit Canned Heat & The Chipmunks on both sides of the disc, the 30 i.p.s. rodents are not present on the reverse, “Christmas Blues”.

  1. The very effective earworm from The Chipmunks has escaped my listening this season, and I cannot lower my defenses this late in the campaign.
Canned Heat is a favorite and I’ve never heard that track!
    Much good.
By the way, is there a real-time recording of the singers performing as The Chipmunks? I suppose a slowed replay would suffice.

    1. We had the Chipmunks’ record when I was a young tad, and my dad’s turntable had speeds of 78, 33 1/3, 45 AND 17 rpm. That last one slowed it down to the human vocal range, and IIRCC, the Chipmunks’ voices were all male, probably David Seville himself. There are a number of free online pitch changers if you want to mess with them.
