Saturday Matinee – Tank Girl, Classic Hammond B3 Organ Solos, Tom Waits, Fishbone & Neil Young

Since I embarrassed myself by admitting that I was clueless about “Tank Girl,” maybe this will make up for it. Here’s the movie trailer, featuring Lori Petty and Malcom McDowell.

Tribute to the Hammond B3 Organism Part 1. (Parts 2 & 3 here and here.)

That’s Tom Waits‘ “Jockey Full Of Bourbon”  from 1986. I’ve posted “Downtown Train” before and I’m not ashamed to repost it either.

Best comment on the Utoobage for that vid:
“This somehow makes Rod Stewart suck even more.”

Fishbone‘s “Cholly.” Years ago I mentioned to Birdman that I’d like to attend a Fishbone show. He responded, “No you don’t.” Birdman is savvy.

Neil Young in Japan, 2001. Country Dick Montana took that song and did it better, IMO.

Five videos makes the nut, and with that, we’re out. Have a great weekend, folks, and we’ll be back here tomorrow for more fun.

    NIGHTMARE, more like

Zeese may not be ein Issue for ein Racoon blessed by the Good Lord with such talented Junior Bunkettes …..

Vot of das Impact on a fragile & ancient Eagle whose instant thought was :

VOT would happen if his favourite Most-Junior Eagle were to bring home as his serious Young Lady ….. Mademoiselle Tank Girl

…… just imagine the explosive potential of divergent views over one’s English Breakfast [eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms etc] about (say) Medicare or Quantitive Easing

Must dash off for some therapeutic Prairie-Dog hunting

    Alles Gute

Oh ….. and I forget the BUTTERED TOAST which might not be improved by the singeing which might be consequent upon such Conversation …….

  3. Bunk Strutts Says:

Signor Eagle– Always the gracious guest, with or without BUTTERED TOAST. (She who takes her vehicle out of gear during precipitation prefers POUTINE.)

Occasionally I muse as to what this household (and I) might have morphed into if we had a sonofabunk or two (Bunklin and Bunkwald) instead of Bunkessa and Bunkarina. I have no regrets.

    I… uh…

Ok, I had no idea who Tank Girl is/was before this instant in time.

So I guess that makes two of us who were so not worthy.

  5. Calo Says:

I am still trying to figure out what/who Burning Man is.

    Clueless Bunk.

  6. Bunk Strutts Says:

LK– Tank Girl is apparently better known in the UK, judging from Mssr. Eagle’s “mushrooms” reference.

    Calo– Maybe this will help:

  7. planetross Says:

I always liked Tom Waits, I think the “Downtown Train” video sealed it for me … and after that he could do now wrong on his albums.

I still don’t like some of his “in concert” videos though. They are a bit too “not like the recording at all” … in someway.

  8. Bunk Strutts Says:

plane– “Jitterbug Boy” was my favorite. One of the things about Tom Waits is that he never sang a song the same way twice.

  9. nursemyra Says:

I could watch/listen to Tom Waits for hours

  10. Bunk Strutts Says:

nursem– Years ago there was an album of various artists singing their favorite Disney songs. Tom Waits chose the 7 Dwarfs’ “Heigh Ho.” (Jump to 00.25)
