Saturday Matinee – B_ETWE_EN, Maccabees, Bunkface, Ronettes

The Maccabees put a video of the winner of the 2007 Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling to music. Who woulda guessed. (Bunkarina suggested this one.)

So just for the heck of it, I click the Utoobage and start typing b, u, n, k… and up pops  Bunkface.  (I’ve been called worse.)

You’d not believe how difficult it is to come up with the correct video links  for rain.  “Rain Rain Rain” doesn’t even come up on the search mojo;  The Videos’ “Trickle Trickle” is a no show also. Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow held possibilities. Or I could link to It’s a Beautiful Day’s self-indulgent  “White Bird (in a golden cage in the rain).”  Ugh. I couldn’t bring myself to post a Melanie vid either, so while I’m hunting, try this.

The Ronettes’ “Walking in the Rain” is THE best rain song ever.

Sea Puppies

Danio rerio plays an important role in teaching us more about evolution. These two-day old larvae will turn into adult fish in three months. Scientists have found that zebrafish have the ability to regenerate fins, skins, the heart and the brain during the larval stages.”

500,000!

Shortly after 1AM this morning, PST,  Tacky Raccoons received our 500,000th visitor with open arms, confetti, little cheap plastic tooty horns, whatever was left in the fridge, and the promise of complete anonymity. Thanks, Mystery Vistor!

“With a Girl Like You.” The announcer mispronounces the group’s name as “The Rutles.” Heh.

Here’s the Troggs’ original version of “With A Girl Like You”  from 1967. The Troggs got their name from Troglodytes, aka, cavemen, which brings us to this:

“Troglodyte” was one of the worst yet most popular funk trainwrecks ever. Recorded in 1972, the Jimmy Castor Bunch introduced us to Bertha Butt of the Butt Sisters. Boom shakalaka.
