COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic stats are interesting. To date, less than four-thousandths of one percent (0.003.5%) of the US population has contracted it; six ten-thousandths of one percent (0.0006%) of the US population has died from it. Italy’s death rate from the virus is 1.7%.

The Republic of San Marino is a 24 sq. mi. micronation surrounded by Italy. It has the highest fatality rate (of the countries listed) at 6.5%.

PJMedia parsed the same statistics I did and posted the graphs below:

Earlier this year, a Beijing district office for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced that pants should be an effective barrier against farts that might disperse the Wuhan virus.

On Lynching.

The CHAMBER OF HORRORS at the Southwestern Historical Wax Museum in State Fair Park of Dallas, Texas, recreates an event that took place in Ada, Oklahoma, April 19, 1909, when a lynch mob took four suspected murderers from jail to a barn where they administered frontier type justice.

According to the Tuskegee Institute, 4,743 people were lynched between 1882 and 1968 in the United States, including 3,446 African Americans and 1,297 whites. More than 73 percent of lynchings in the post-Civil War period occurred in the [Democrat-controlled] Southern states. [Wiki]

5 TACKY YEARS! Top 11 Posts for 2012

How’s it feel to be a Green Dot? That’s right, one of those little World Peas is just for you. View the Live Map here. It will display little blinkies that show you who else is here, and it’s anonymous. (We’re at the ass end of the US, just in case you were wondering.)

It’s intuitively obvious to the casual observer that we’re on the verge of taking over the world, so be content in the knowledge that you have assisted with the conquest.

We added an online store and a widget that sort of links to another online store. WorpDress now allows adverts, and they also allow PayPal Tip Jars, so we added that as well. Has any of it paid off? Nah.

We’ve featured the Top Posts for each year since we started in 2007. The numbers indicate this year’s ranking followed by last year’s, and we’ve added a third for all-time ranking (2012/2011/All-Time Rank).  NR indicates Not Ranked.

Click on any image and it’ll take you to the original post.

No. 11/nr – Popeye Dead at 108

No. 9/nr – The .Gif Friday Post No.104 – Catsup

No. 7/2/5 – Amy’s Motivational Poster Collection

No. 6/7/8 – Giant Woolly Bear Caterpillar Discovered Near Las Cruces, NM, Predicts Global Warming for Decades to Come

No. 4/nr – 10:11:10 11/10/11

No. 2/1/4 – Capybara Lapwarmer

AND THE NUMBER ONE POST FOR 2012 IS:

The .Gif Friday Post No.93 – Cat Fish Robot Jam

It scored at No. 6 in 2011, and it’s at No. 7 on the 5-Year popularity ranking.

We plan to keep going with this baboso unless it becomes a chore, but considering all the fun stuff we’ve found just to keep our self-imposed goal of One Post Per Day, it looks like we’ll be around a while. Cheers!

Nice To Have You Here

Running a “Hey Lookit This” blog is fun. One of the things that amuses me is trying to figure out what’s hot and what’s not, and occasionally I look at the search engine terms that brought people to Tacky Raccoons in the first place. I might as well share the fun.

In the past year, we got a lot of hits for .gif animations. That’s unsurprising because over time we’ve collected a nice archive. Here are the top ten search engine terms April 2011 – April 2012:

  1. Capybara  (23K+ hits)
  2. Dancing gif  (21K+)
  3. Possum  (13K+)
  4. 10 (9.5K)
  5. 11 (3K)
  6. Animation Fist Pump (3K)
  7. Science Fair Projects (2K)
  8. Motivational Poster (2K)
  9. Babe (2K)
  10. Woolly Bear Caterpillar (2K)

There are variations to each category, like plurals, additional words, misspellings, etc., so the number of hits are approximate – but those are by far the most popular, with thousands of hits each. Why so many people search for the numbers 10 and 11, and not other numbers is a binary mystery to me.

The rest is a hodgepodge of pure eclectic bizarreness. These are headscratchers, in order of rank:

Meatloaf, Stairs, Chainsaw Bear, Raccoons Killing Cats, Oops, Donut Queen, Slugman, Dwarf Porn, Male Anorexia, Camel Planking, Bunny Poop, Bitch, Mickey Mouse Pants, Amputee Porn, Velcro Microscope, Bubble Butt Animated Gifs, Harold Hamgravy, Body Paint Ass, Aunt Bethany and Nose Harp.

Exactly 60 people came to this website by searching for:

these little beasties are street legal. they run on either kawasaki or honda motorcycle engines and co-opt vintage bumper car bodies into the most awesome form of mini-car we’ve seen in too long. there are seven of these little monsters floating around california, and they’re all the creation of one man, tom wright

Go figure.
