Doodling in Math Class is an awesome series with great commentary. (There are more here, here and here.) I did a lot of n-pointed star studies and other similar graphics, but teh Utoobage hadn’t been invented yet to record the brilliance.
One of the great modern animators, Bruno Bozzetto has done it again.
What the heck, here’s another Bozzetto classic. Now how do I transition from Bozzetto to a music video? …got it.
Bozzetto to Bozzio. Double zees. Which takes us to you-know-who:
1980’s vintage ZZ Top. Now we’re gonna take away one more Z…
Zappa’s “Bamboozled By Love/Owner of a Lonely Heart.”
And with that, have a great weekend folks and be back here tomorrow for more fun.
This has been sitting around for a while in our What To Do With Box, and although I’m sure I posted it elsewhere, it’s still in my list of top flicks to see.
It’s got everything you want in an action movie: a pretty oriental nurse with a threatening heart-stopping hypodermic needle, cows and albino goats, snow and subtitles. Once I find out where it’s showing, you’ll be the first to know.
Never forget that there was no Declaration of War until after the attack. Image from here includes this description:
Photograph taken from a Japanese plane during the torpedo attack on ships moored on both sides of Ford Island. View looks about east, with the supply depot, submarine base and fuel tank farm in the right center distance.
A torpedo has just hit USS West Virginia on the far side of Ford Island (center). Other battleships moored nearby are (from left): Nevada, Arizona, Tennessee (inboard of West Virginia), Oklahoma (torpedoed and listing) alongside Maryland, and California.
On the near side of Ford Island, to the left, are light cruisers Detroit and Raleigh, target and training ship Utah and seaplane tender Tangier. Raleigh and Utah have been torpedoed, and Utah is listing sharply to port.
Japanese planes are visible in the right center (over Ford Island) and over the Navy Yard at right.
This is amazing. If you cross your eyes and focus on the middle image you get an awesome 3D effect of one of the hundreds of Frieda Kahlo’s self portraits.
So you’re getting your daughter a Heathkit stereo preamp for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Other, and you need some ideas for stocking stuffers. Strippers and dykes are always handy for working on electronics, but she’ll flip when she finds a My Little Pony Soldering Gun in her little Doc Martens that were hung by the chimney with care.
Consider it a safety measure, as she’ll no longer have to heat up a piece of bent coat hanger wire over the gas burner with your needle nose pliers in order to solder resistors and diodes, and she can move her projects off of the kitchen counter and into the living room next to the Christmas non-denominational holiday tree. (Don’t forget the fireproofing!)
This holiday gift-giving hint is just one more benefit to all loyal patrons of Tacky Raccoons.
