Saturday Matinee – The Courettes, The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio & Mia Dyson

Dubbed The World’s Greatest Two Person Rock ‘N’ Roll Ensemble, Flavia & Martin Couri, aka The Fabulous Courettes, are proof that Phil Spector lives.

Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist Mia Dyson was raised in a musical family near Daylesford and later Torquay. Influenced by her father, Jim Dyson, a blues guitarist and luthier who crafted her first guitar, she’s now considered one of Australia’s top 25 guitarists.

Saturday Matinee – Joey Ramone, Geddy Lee, Stanley Clarke & The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio

Joey Ramone‘s song and stop-motion vid New York City were made and released in 2012, 11 years after his death. The song was an overdub of a demo tape. Tommy Erdlai (Tommy Ramone) is in there somewhere (I think that’s him at 02:57).

Geddy Lee cranks it. I should have paid more attention to Rush; I liked the sound but couldn’t stand the vocals.

Stanley Clarke‘s Touch, live at the Newport Jazz Festival (2003). Another amazing bass solo (with some annoying narration stuck in the middle of it).

The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio (aka DLO3) grooves it. Someone in the vid comments said the guitar sounds like Hendrix doing jazz. Someone else noted that the bassman is playing with his feet.

Saturday Matinee – Too Many Zooz, The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio & Buddy Guy w/ B.B. King

“Warriors” by Too Many Zooz, shot somewhere under NYC, is oddly interesting. Some call it street music, but the band calls it “brass house.” Kinda rough on my ears, but I get it.

Tight sound with a nice groove. The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio (aka DLO3) covers Curtis Mayfield‘s 1970 soul classic Move On Up.
