Pure Awesome.

There’s entirely waaaaay too much awesome in that photo and it all starts with

the olive carpet that moves to the brown paisley drapes with the cream scrim then to the air rattler in the window and HEY it’s a stereo Magnavox TV awww there’s a baby picture WHOA RABID FOX awww another baby picture WTF IS THAT WHITE THING and an odd looking glasstop credenza with an oriental tobacco box and a brass genie lamp and LOOKOUT IT’S A SHARK ASHTRAY!

Maybe that’s not how your eyes strolled around this picture, but it’s still Pure Awesome. I miss my grandparents. They’d never put up with garbage like this, because their garbage had class. Just like yours.

Several Serious Layers of Awesome

Although the sign says “Mockingbird Heights Drag Strip,” the photo was probably taken at the NHRA Drag Strip in Pomona California in the mid 1960s. Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster was accompanied by Grampa Munster (Al Lewis) for a publicity stunt.

I watched the show as a kid for obvious reasons, but especially to see Marilyn Munster. All the little chicks with the crimson lips fawned over 10 year old Eddie Munster, and one of his fans finally tracked down Butch Patrick.

Jeannie’s Bottle

Her pad wasn’t cool, but Barbara Eden was hot.

Just like Elizabeth Montgomery in “Bewitched,” “I Dream Of Jeannie” gave a lot of teenage boys fodder for late night fireside hypothetical discussions.

Saturday Matinee: 1967

Classic scene from 1967’s  “The Flim Flam Man,” starring George C. Scott, Michael Sarrazin, and the irascible Slim Pickens. Scott was only 40, and Louis Burton Lindley, Jr. was 48 when this was made.

Where do we go from here? Patton? No. Too obvious, so let’s find something Y’all haven’t heard in a while, also from 1967.

Mannix. What kinda name was that? A very cool one.

Ironsides rocked the courtroom, even before handicapped parking was invented.

The 2nd greatest TV theme song ever. Book ‘im, Danno.

Inane sitcom with a great intro.  Very loosely based upon the great movie “Stalag 17.”

1965’s “Wild Wild West” intro.  So what if it’s not from 1967. The animation, updated during the program, counts big time.  Forget Robert Conrad. The real star was Ross Martin, aka Artemus Gordon.

Best TV theme song ever? This.
