Tokyo’s Clothes Hangers Crows Nests

Conceptual Art installations? Nope.

“When I lived in Tokyo, I used to watch the crows take hangers from my neighbors’ balconies. (Hangers were used to hang out washing to dry.) The crows would work in pairs to remove the clothing from the hangers and then one would fly off with the hanger. I’d never seen the nests though.”

Saturday Matinee – Carol Kaye, Tal Wilkenfeld & Jeff Beck, Jaco Pastorius, and Some Guys Jamming “Mercy Mercy Mercy.”

You’ve probably never heard OF Carol Kaye, but you have certainly heard her music, especially on bass. Pure awesome.

Tal Wilkinfeld & Jeff Beck 2009(?).

Jaco Pastorius was brilliant on bass, but had serious mental problems.

Mercy Mercy Mercy. This jam cranks, but that can’t be  Stanley Jordan on bass (or guitar, or any other instrument) despite the Utoobage description, yet someone was playing a 6-string bass…

Have a great weekend, folks. Rock on.

The Bad Hair Decade: 1970s Britain

Unfortunately some of these *ahem* styles drifted across the Atlantic. I remember A1, A2, B1, B2, B3, C1, C3, D1 & D2. Mine was a mix of A1, B4 and D3, and no, I’m not gonna post it.

Hot Air Blown [Updated with Link to story]

balloon-vs-tower

balloon-vs-tower 2
I don’t know the story behind it, but that’s some scary stuff. Besides the balloon snag, that tower wasn’t engineered to handle a bigass inflated windsock trying to pull it down.

[Found here.]

UPDATE: Apparently the accident dates to October 2004 during a hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque NM. After the collision, the veteran pilot grabbed the tower to stop the gondola from swinging, and he and two boys (ages 10 and 14) climbed down 600 feet as news helicopters buffeted the tower before being called off. Here’s the balloon in better health:
