Introducing The 2015 MultiCar BS Coupe

The 3-wheeled MultiCar has been around for decades and is featured on many traffic reports. Manufactured by Pyeongwa Motors of North Korea, The 2015 MultiCar BS Coupe has many improvements over previous models, including tempered glass, a front-wheel disc brake and reverse-engineered Carter carburetors. Handling is somewhat below par, and there is no insurance coverage available to date. If price is a concern and replacement parts are not a concern, then the MultiCar may be just the right choice for you. [Strutts News Services]

Thanks to the glory of communism, North Korea has what might be one of the lowest rates of car ownership in the world. Although the government doesn’t release official stats, the best estimate is that there are fewer than 30,000 vehicles on the road—in a country of nearly 24 million people. (Officially, private citizens can’t own cars, but those with government ties manage to.) You are more likely to know somebody with a private jet than a North Korean is to know somebody with a car.
[…]
Although a minute segment of the population owns cars, the rate of growth is significant. In fact, in 2007, cars were deemed prevalent enough that Kim Jong-Il ordered the confiscation of all Japanese-built vehicles.

I suppose North Korea could set worldwide standards and opt for energy-efficient eco-vehicles that can be recharged overnight, but you’d have to drive to Pyongyang every night to do it and drive back the next day.

LMAO.

Saturday Matinee – The Sant Andreu Jazz Band, Tuba Skinny & Trombone Shorty

The Sant Andreu Jazz Band is from Barcelona Spain, features 7-20 year olds. Here’s their website. I love early American jazz, and they nail it.

Some friends visited New Orleans recently, gave me a CD of Tuba Skinny. They didn’t believe that I’d heard of them even though I’d posted two of their vids some time ago. The girl on cornet is awesome, knows her chops.

Want some funk with that jazz? Here’s Trombone Shorty.

Have a great extended holiday weekend, folks. See y’all back here tomorrow.

2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 140,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 6 days for that many people to see it.

The Entire Bible In 30 Minutes Or Less.

Bible

I’ve never read much of The Bible (with the exception of Genesis and The Book of Revelations when I was a teenager – I liked the Sci-Fi aspects). I’m not a particularly religious person, certainly not devout; I consider myself a non-practicing Presbyterian heathen.

A website found me on Christmas Day, and I found this post interesting:

The entire Bible in 30 minutes or less.

Here’s the gist of it:

God creates man.
Man rebels.
God initiates redemption.
God accomplishes redemption.
God gives birth to the church.
God completes redemption.

The following is reposted by permission of the author. It’s not a parody or satire, and it’s worth sharing. Continue reading “The Entire Bible In 30 Minutes Or Less.”

Saturday Matinee – The Travelin’ McCoury’s, Muddy Waters & Buddy Guy / Robert Junior Lockwood / Koko Taylor / Charlie Musselwhite

Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys‘ “Pumped Up Kicks” made me laugh. Clever stuff that.

How ’bout some Muddy Waters? Here’s a jam from 1978. (Note that James Cotton is not the first harp blower on the vid.)

Killer blues tribute with a great lineup. 45 minutes of pure awesome.

Have a great weekend, folks. See you back here tomorrow.
