No idea what this means, but it meant enough to me to post it.
[Found here, with, um, a vid, and “Turquerie” has a Wiki description.]

A somber ceremony at Pike’s Peak 1876. The dangers of the new frontier were many, and there were many horrible ways one could part from the living.

The U.S. Signal Service (an early Weather Bureau) built a telegraph station on the summit [of Pike’s Peak] in 1873 to monitor the weather, and a guard was posted in Manitou at the beginning of the trail to collect a toll for hiking to the summit.
In May of 1876, tragedy befell the O’Keefe family when their daughter Erin was apparently eaten by mountain rats. The true story may be found here.

[Center .gif found here. I assembled more of Daniel Lee’s spooky images from “108 Faces” to make the others, and yeah, it creeps me out, too.]
The Gawper [via Miss Cellanea]
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins “I Hear Voices.”
Tom Waits’ “What’s He Building?” is a creepy classic.
Pixar’s Rodrigo Blass: “Alma.” (Caution: this is NOT for little kids.)
Nice jam. Albert Collins’ King’s “Born Under A Bad Sign,” cranked out by Davy Knowles, Christine Collister, Bonnie Hayes, and members of the Robert Cray Band.
Have a great weekend folks, and be back here tomorrow for more oddities.
