Think Like A Proton

“I’m pretty sure this is a Beryllium atom and the artist just used artistic license to depict the 8 protons and neutrons in the nucleus as the atom’s body (1), eyes (2), teeth (4), and tongue (1). He also portrayed the atom part way through the oxidation process, which is why it still has 3 electrons instead of the traditional 2 that form the Be+2 ion. But even midway through oxidation, the atom would still have a positive charge. So the shirt is technically (though artistically) correct.
Yeah, I’m gonna go with that.”

Saturday Matinee – The Courettes, Mr. Sipp & Ry Cooder

Dubbed The World’s Greatest Two Person Rock ‘N’ Roll Ensemble, Flavia & Martin Couri, aka The Fabulous Courettes, are proof that Phil Spector lives.

Castro Coleman, aka Mr. Sipp is smooth. A recipient of many prestigious awards, Castro was the first bluesman to have his handprint inducted into the Wall of Fame in Fredrikshavn, Denmark.

The master of roots blues slide guitar, Ry Cooder gets all swampy whenever he wants to, and that’s fine with me. Mo swampy mo betta.

Yep, another week has gone by and I don’t miss it already. See you back here tomorrow at whenever o’clock sharp.

Saturday Matinee – Jeremiah McDonald does Dizzy & Charlie, The Red Devils, Smokin’ Joe Kubek & Bnois King, and The Homemade Jamz Blues Band

The Red Devils were a house band from L.A. featuring front man Lester Butler. They had much success after their debut album King King (1992), but the stress of their U.S. and European tours took its toll, and Butler’s drug habit didn’t help. They split up in 1994; Butler died of an overdose four years later at the age of 38.

Smokin’ Joe Kubek & Bnois King played together for decades until Kubek passed away in 2015 at age 58. Both Kubek and King have impressive resumes filled with blues cred.

From Tupelo, Mississippi, siblings Ryan, Kyle and Taya Perry are The Homemade Jamz Blues Band. In 2007, the trio made music history as the youngest blues band to sign a record deal: Ryan was 16, Kyle 14 and Taya 9.

Got a busy day tomorrow. Big plans, y’know, big plans. I don’t know what they are yet, just that tomorrow’s gonna be busy. See you then.
