I showed the last one to Sensei Bunkessa. She said jump kicks are risky, that your adversary could react and block, which means you’re likely on the ground. Not sure if the vid is legit, or staged for a demonstration video, so any help to verify the source would be appreciated. We’ll give you some awesome credit and splatter it all over the internest.

Saturday Matinee – Crater Face, Postmodern Jukebox, Gunhild Carling & The Best Moth Joke You’ve Ever Heard

“Crater Face” is an animated short about two lonely moon pimples and a deranged astronaut (by Skyler Page).

Awesome RickRoll by Postmodern Jukebox on the RMS Queen Mary in 2016, featuring Gunhild Carling on vocals, trumpet, recorder, trombone & bagpipes. Really.

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!

I knew a guy who could play two saxes at the same time (with rubber bands holding down a couple of keys) and I can believe that someone might be able play two trumpets simultaneously, but three? Had there not been a video I’d have never believed it.

The song is “El Manisero“  (aka “The Peanut Vendor) and it dates to 1930s Cuba. Stan Kenton’s version is my favorite because of all the discordant stuff that he worked into it.

Classic Norm MacDonald delivery.

I modified the top one a tad, second one was cropped and culled for size (they’re all way too skinny in the meat department, but the one on the left rocks). Third is pure awesome. Anyone who’s been to Seattle knows that everyone there dances that way.

Saturday Matinee – Dinosaurs, Ted Hawkins, Playing For Change, Steve Ray Vaughan & Johnny Copeland

Dinosaurs are always fun, and this video has a great cast of relative unknowns. It’s over an hour long, but that’s just a day in dinotime.

Ted Hawkins (1936-1995) had more success in the UK than the US, although he had a local fan base in Venice Beach CA where he was a popular busker. Check out his background at the link.

This version of Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” is fascinating, as it appears that all the players recorded remotely. Playing For Change is not a band, it’s an organization based in Venice California that records musicians from around the world, and is dedicated to creating and supporting music schools particularly in developing countries.

Haven’t heard any Stevie Ray Vaughan in a while, so here he is with fellow Texan Johnny Copeland, live At Montreux 1985.
