“When Death Rides the Rubber” – Popular Mechanics, December 1932

Monday, 17 July 2017

Okay, so who the Hell gave Death a drivers’ license so it could pull this crap in the first place? Why is he selling used tires?

The used tire business has been around for decades, and there’s deceit involved. Check out this recent video:

JimmieDurham-mandalsanat

Jimmie Durham did this.

“‘Some collide, some escape’: This was the title of a 2005 exhibition of works by Jimmie Durham that was held in a former cow barn belonging to Berlin’s Humboldt-Universität. The barn had been a site of agricultural research in the days of socialism.
Durham opened … with a vegetarian performance – he ate a flower – and, in the university cow barn, revealed his artistic cosmos. On display were an old toothbrush among rotten apples, medical instruments adorned with feathers, egg shells, bones, pelts and a good deal more.”

Durham’s also got a lot in common with Elizabeth Warren, Ward Churchill, Jamake Highwater, Diane Fisher & Andrea Smith (whoever they are) and Cher, who all claim Cherokee ancestry with no proof whatsoever, possibly because that’s the only Native American tribe they’ve heard of. In truth, they’re all members of of the two largest modern Indian nations, the Newager and the Wanabi.

To pursue, obtain and accept special perks and creds based upon something that might or might not have happened to your personal ancestors is specious at best, but to invent your genealogy in order to take advantage of those arguably racist programs and boons is not only unethical but fraudulent.

I despise liars more than thieves.

Art Installation Carl Andre

In 1976 London there was some tabloid excitement about the Tate Museum’s tax-payer funded purchase and display of Carl Andre’s Equivalent VIII-a group of 120 bricks arranged in a rectangle.

The piece was originally part of an installation in New York in 1966. When no one bought the work at the time, the artist returned the bricks to the supplier. He had to obtain new bricks for the Tate. It reportedly cost the tax payers about $12,000.00, the equivalent of about $50,000.00 today.

One Step Beyond: A Very Serious Emergency Exit

Thursday, 14 November 2013

“Hello, Ma’am. May I help you?”

“Yes, I’m here to sign up for ObamaCare because my insurance carrier dropped me.”

“I can help you with that, but I need some information first. I need your age, weight, height, current medical status and your Social Security ID card with an ID.”

“Here’s my card and my driver’s license. I’m 67, 5′-7″, 210 lbs., diabetic, smoker, varicose veins, and have high blood pressure.”

“Do you drink alcohol?”

“All I can get.”

“Do you own a firearm?”

“What? Yes I do. For self defense.”

“Huh. Are you aware that ObamaCare provides free contraceptives and coverage for pregnancy?

“I’ve had a hysterectomy.”

“That doesn’t matter, because you’ll still be covered just in case. Who did you vote for in the last presidential election?”

“What does that have to do with medical insurance?”

“I’m sorry, Ma’am, but I need that information to process your enrollment.”

“I voted for Mitt Romney.”

“Okay. I’ve got your info entered and it looks like you qualify for ObamaCare Plan 9.
Please proceed down the hall to Waiting Room 2, Door 314, and an ObamaCaregiver will be with you shortly. Have a nice day.”

ObamaCare Exit

What a bizarre nightmare of bureaucratic fascism Obamacare has become. It has nothing to do with so-called “affordable health care” because it’s more insidious than that. Look beyond the facade of the ObamaCare website fiasco, and there’s nothing but expensive darkness, economic gloom, substandard medical care and more.

Make no mistake, the aging “baby boomer” generation, those of us born between 1946 and 1964, are the targets, because we’re old enough to remember atrocities perpetrated by the Left here and abroad. ObamaCare is just another vehicle designed to erase the past in order to promote a radical leftist agenda, and it’s got lethal teeth.

People still wonder how mass murderers like Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Ho Chi Minh & Pol Pot came to power and killed off millions of their own people. We’re witnessing the same process today, via a clever but insidious program known as ObamaCare, and that’s not hyperbole. If ObamaCare is fully enacted, the Missus and I will suffer, but I worry for my kids who will suffer more, because they won’t know why.

Saturday Matinee – FaceBook Etiquette, Carnival Cheats,Texting Scam, Bob Kuban & The In-Men and The Undisputed Truth

Saturday, 18 February 2012

We had to watch that in junior high school. We all snickered to ourselves and laughed out loud afterwards. Once school let out, we went trolling anyway:

“Hello, Mrs. Jenkins? This is Bob from Hi-Times Liquor. Your husband left his wallet and motel key on the counter.”

You Asked For It”  was an early television show that pulled in viewers by asking for requests. This one shows some old carnival gaffes, some of which are still employed.

Here’s a modern day fraud to be aware of. The Real Hustle was an interesting show. Here’s 90 minutes worth of bar bets that should keep you busy for a while.

Bob Kuban & The In-Men had their one hit in 1966 with “The Cheater” and the song fits. (Irony note: Kuban was killed by his wife’s boyfriend in 1983.) I couldn’t find a live version, but this works.

“Smiling Faces” was originally recorded by the Temptations, but was a hit with this cover by The Undisputed Truth in 1971.

That’s our collection for this episode of The  Saturday Matinee. Have a great weekend folks and we’ll see you tomorrow whether you like it or not.

Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl Sibyl & Sibyl

Thursday, 3 February 2011

Sibyl” was a popular made-for-TV-movie starring Sally Field as a profoundly schizophrenic girl named Shirley Ardell Mason, who supposedly had 16 separate personalities.  Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view) the story was a fraud:

Please try to keep in mind that what you see in the film is only very loosely based on the real events in the life of Shirley Mason. The novel by Flora Schreiber is not a psychiatric case history. It is a fictionalized narrative, exaggerated for shock value, and the film even more so. It is not representative of the real Shirley Mason, her group, or her therapy. Films such as Three Faces of Eve and Sybil and shows like The United States of Tara should not be viewed as educational: they are not representative or models of “how a real multiple acts”.

Joshua Norton’s Contribution to the World

Emperor Norton I_Wikipedia

Joshua Abraham Norton of San Francisco (via England) recobanized that the State of the Union was in disrepair in 1859, and realized that he alone could save the United States of America from certain catastrophe. Subsequently, and for legitimate reasons, he unselfishly declared himself Emperor Norton the First.

From Wikipedia:

In accordance with his self-appointed role of emperor, Norton issued numerous decrees on matters of the state. After assuming absolute control over the country, he saw no further need for a legislature, and on October 12, 1859, he issued a decree that formally “dissolved” the United States Congress. In the decree, Norton observed:

“…fraud and corruption prevent a fair and proper expression of the public voice; that open violation of the laws are constantly occurring, caused by mobs, parties, factions and undue influence of political sects; that the citizen has not that protection of person and property which he is entitled.”

He was humored and tolerated at the time; meanwhile I’ve put in an order for more Joshua Nortons.

“Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we’re being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I’m liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That’s what’s insane about it.” –John Lennon

Harry Truman’s classic observation rings true as well.

[Tip o’ the tarboosh to FinPeng. Lennon’s quote from here.]
