Say You’ll Be Mine, The Ecuadors (1959) Chess RecordsA combo of Chess artists are featured in this one-off recording session. Not to be confused with another band of the same name who recorded for RCA Victor, The Ecuadors were Harvey Fuqua on lead vocal, Billy Davis & Etta James backing vocals. Session band was Chuck Berry with HIS classic Chess lineup that included Willie Dixon, Matt Guitar Murphy, Johnny Johnson and Fred Below.

They were the greatest early rock and roll band you never heard of.
The Tielman Brothers were of Indonesian/Dutch ancestry and made a name for themselves, first in East Indonesia, and later in the Netherlands. In 1958 they recorded Rock Little Baby of Mine, considered to be the first Dutch rock ‘n’ roll record
Undercover S.K.A., a third-wave band from San Francisco, began as a one-off gig for a backyard party in the 1990s. They lost band leader Bob Glynn in 2017.

The “Star Seeder” is a statue in Kaunas, Lithuania. During the day it goes unnoticed, but when night comes the statue justifies its title.

That appears to be self-portrait artist Samuel Fosso, from a series titled African Spirits (ca. 2008). Born in Camaroon, he fled the Nigerian Biafra Wars, found refuge in Bangui, Central African Republic.

The Stars, The Ocapello’s (1966 & 1972)A rare recording – a 45rpm in mint condition might fetch you $100. Little can be found about the group with the stray apostrophe except that they came from East Orange, New Jersey, and evolved from two other local groups (The Crowns and The Cameos), and that the lead singer may or may not have been Bobby Kline who may or may not have been black.

Johnny “Johnny Blues” Cárdenasis is a blind self-taught street musician from Santiago, Chile, who plays nothing but roots blues. There are interviews with him on the Utoobage, but they lack captions and my Spanish is rusty.
